Feast of Violet unveils new 'Platform' EP

Two years have gone by since Allen Taylor released his last proper (longer than an EP) Feast Of Violet album, Linsen, but the downtime has not been in vain. The Platform EP rounds up four new numbers that Taylor's been working on since last summer while preparing what will become his next album. These four tracks, "Taking Sides," "Marble Low," "Direction, and "Osc," are pretty much what he would play live on any given night, and each one gives a nod to the heady beats, bliss, and straight-ahead electronic palette from which Feast of Violet's prior EPs have drawn. Here, each song comes together for a brief yet captivating piquing of the senses that says what it has to with just a few pleasant clusters of electronic noise and melody, while sidestepping any sense of malady whatsoever. "To me, the EP is about the good side of isolation," Taylor says. "It's kind of like a meditative thing about the positive things that come from being alone," he adds. "It's an on-the-porch-with-coffee-and-headphones kind of record."
