Cox also name-dropped a diverse range of influences on this particular batch of songs, including French electro-acoustic pioneer Pierre Schaeffer, modern composer Steve Reich and blues vocalist/guitarist Bo Diddley. The band also saw fit to dress the studio with mood lighting and fog machines to sustain certain vibes each day.
Strangely enough, there is no mention of Josh Fauver, longtime bassist and founding member of Deerhunter, anywhere. Josh McKay, founder/singer/instrumentalist of Athens' experimental rock band Macha, seems to have taken on bass duties this time around, alongside Frankie Broyles (ex-Balkans) on guitar. No official announcement in terms of Deerhunter lineup changes just yet, but it seems like something's a bit off.
