Tonight's show is a fundraiser for Southern Animal Rescue (SAR), a local nonprofit. "They are a beautiful organization that takes in animals from DeKalb Animal Control and helps them find homes," said event organizer Adam Waldorf.
All donations collected at the show will go to the organization. At least one SAR representative will be there, as will one adoptable dog, Daisy.
One of the bands performing tonight has a tie to SAR. Josh Lyner of Jonathan knows Nikki Rentz, who works for the local nonprofit. This connection helped bring the bands, the organization, and Daisy together for tonight's benefit.
Also performing at the benefit will be Scaffolds, a noisy, mask-wearing collective with a constantly evolving sound and lineup, and modern day math rockers Vegan Coke. Waldorf's own band, Gibberish Fuckattack, had been booked to play a regular gig, but will have to improvise since their drummer had a prior commitment. Erin Santini of Wet Rainbow will be sitting behind the kit, but Waldorf said the band will have to stray from its regular set since their temporary addition was selected on short notice.
Scaffolds, Vegan Coke, Jonathan, and Gibberish Fuckattack play 529 tonight (Tue., April 2). Donation accepted. 9 p.m. 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-228-6769.
