For their upcoming album, Atlanta garage punks the Black Lips will collaborate with blues-rock duo, the Black Keys. Well, a Black Key. Black Lips bassist Jared Swilley revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the Keys’ drummer, Patrick Carney, will be producing part of the new album, set for release this winter.

Swilley said that a collaboration with Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox is also likely.

The follow-up to 2011’s Arabia Mountain is being touted by the Black Lips as a combination of “club-bangers and southern rock anthems.”

Having recently finished up a tour in the Middle East, the Black Lips also told The Hollywood Reporter that they now have other aspirations. They want to play a show in Antarctica to become the first band to play on all seven continents. While they might be the most adventurous rock band right now, here’s hoping that the new sound proves just as daring.
