Get lost in Mood Rings' '333'

Mood Rings' may have dropped its debut LP VPI Harmony only a matter of weeks ago, but that hasn't stopped the band from revisiting its older sounds. "333," the B-side from the "Pathos Y Lagrimas" 7-inch, is a relatively low-key jam toning down the band's towering atmospherics to lighter, bedroom-ready shoegaze. The opening run of Casio-like drum patters and modest march of overdriven guitar plays like a dimmed take on glam rock while restraining the climax of a seductive strut. Directed by Allen Taylor of Feast of Violet, who also designed the 7-inch's cover art, the "333" video intersperses randomly placed images in a murk of found footage, retaining a hand-made surrealism that fits perfectly with the track's low-key nature. Nab a copy of the single over at Mexican Summer.
