Ex-Silent Drape Runners' Russ Marshalek embarks on Southeastern tour, drops witch house mixtape

Russ Marshalek is a bigger David Lynch fan than you. Silent Drape Runners, Marshalek's previous project with Sophie Weiner, spent a considerable amount of its time reimagining and performing scores of "Twin Peaks" episodes and dropping references to the celebrated cult TV show ad nauseum. Now returning with a new project named a place both wonderful and strange, Marshalek continues to worship and obsess over Lynch's curiously bizarre and enigmatic world. The new project's woozy production resembles the sparsely caustic, haunted electronica of Silent Drape Runners while trimming a bit of the conceptual weight that sometimes overburdened the scene. Marshalek now plans to venture out on a tour of the Southeast performing "When This Kind of Fire," a re-soundtracking of the "Twin Peaks" companion film "Fire Walk With Me." To celebrate the tour and piece, a place both has released D∆MN EYE F33L L1KE ∆ WI☨CH, a "gothic country drag/screw mixtape" that pits lonesome witching hour antics and modern pop country melodrama. Country hits by Carrie Underwood, Charlie Daniels Band, and the Dixie Chicks all get chopped and screwed into ghostly, semi-recognizable versions of their original counterparts. Vocals and melodies get buried underneath a crippling bass distortion and dimmed to near-pitch black lighting.
