Darkside announces Atlanta show

Posted By on Tue, Oct 15, 2013 at 4:54 PM

Together, Nicolaas Jaar and Dave Harrington are Darkside, an outfit whose foundation was built while its members were experimenting with music during their time together at Brown University. Last week, the two released their debut album, titled Psychic, on Jaar's subscription-based label, Other People. The two have already been recognized for creating an inventive sound that seamlessly blends their respective styles together - Jaar's revered electronic production brilliantly meets Harrington's skillful instrumentation on the guitar. In the past, Jaar's work has relied heavily on samples, but for the duo's latest single, "Paper Trails," he uses his own voice on the bluesy, almost old Western sounding track.

After sinking a few glasses of whiskey, Darkside recorded this extended version of "Paper Trails" for Resident Advisor, an online electronic music magazine and event listing service, doubling the track's original length in this lightly improvised jam before Jaar ends with a few soft strokes of the keys.

On Mon., Feb. 3, Darkside will bring its innovative live performance to Terminal West. Tickets go on sale this Fri., Oct. 18, at 10 a.m.

$18-$20. 9 p.m. 887 West Marietta, Studio C. 404-876-5566.
