Atlanta-based boutique label CGI Records is at the forefront of pushing new sounds into the city's eardrums, and this week marks one of the label's artists releasing his first single. Jerome (aka Jeremy Harris of Lazy Magnet) produced two tracks of spacey, charismatic techno for his CGI debut 12-inch. The A-side, titled "4B," is a skittering jam laced with a funky punch that moves through the tunnel of sound like a speeding train. On the B-side, "5" is a harder-hitting track that compliments it's sister excellently.

As the label's third release, CGI continues to evolve its output of left-leaning electronic music. The collective is making impressive headway in a city with a climate that's not currently conditioned for such a mature electronic sound. But that's not to say Atlanta isn't beginning to open up. Thankfully, people are starting to take notice of CGI founder Matt Weiner, and his efforts to bring the underground to surface level.

Jerome will perform live, creating a dance floor experience that closely mirrors his 12-inch release which is actually pieces of a live studio session whittled down to its most compelling section.

CGI Records Release Party ft. Jerome, Jeff Zagers, Anticipation, and Weiner (TWINS) perform with a DJ set from REKchampa. Thurs., Dec. 5. 529 Free. 9 p.m. 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 404-228-6769.
