Savannah Stopover 2014 lineup takes shape

Speedy Ortiz - “Tiger Tank”

Although it’s only the initial lineup, the 2014 edition of Savannah Stopover is shaping up to be a packed bill of largely indie rock, be it garage, pop, noise. With a handful of Georgia-bred acts (the Whiskey Gentry, Easter Island, T Hardy Morris, the Silver Palms) and many others from outside state lines (Speedy Oritz, Small Black, ARP, Weekend, Those Darlins, Bleeding Rainbow, et al.), the annual coastal festival has long served as a collective mid-market stop for bands and acts touring to and from various larger U.S. festivals like SXSW. Venues are often non-traditional, with the city’s modestly vibrant music scene packed out with visiting acts. As founder Kayne Lanahan suggests, “At Stopover, you might find your next favorite band in a small dive bar, the ballroom of a 19th century mansion, an outdoor beer garden, or a haunted cemetery. It’s like no place else on earth.” Tickets are on sale now via Stopover’s website. The final lineup will be announced Jan. 15. In the meantime check out the initial lineup after the jump.
