(Currency live at the Mammal Gallery, 12/10/2013)
Fans of pointed improvisation and esoteric jam sessions mark your calendars. Currently boasting a solid lineup of Ramble Tamble (ex-Guardian Alien, Them Natives), Magicicada, Adam Babar (Faun and a Pan Flute, Easily Suede, Suffer Dragon), Daniel Bailey (Currency, Carey, Faun and a Pan Flute), and Michika Skyy McClinton (Tantrum) with more to be announced, experimental Atlanta label Mission Trips is sponsoring brief sets from improv artists with the hopes of creating a continuous and varied string of sounds, similar to a mixtape. The night serves as the first in an ongoing series, similar to Robby Kee's monthly Invent Room Pop. But the lines between sets will blur, with each act serving as a segue both from the preceding bloc and into the following number.
Curator of the series, Chris White, otherwise known as Magicicada, explains: "We are going to work out transitional points between each band, group, person. So like my friend Turner who plays the shahi baaja will start off the night with a 5-minute opener which will slowly transitions into Magicicada for five minutes, into Suffer Dragon, into Currency, and back around with time adjustments and different pairings on any given go around."

Thank you, Michael. I passed your comment along to the label, and hopefully they can…
I wish someone would please correct the players credited on this album. All are correct…
It is so disappointing and frustrating how inaccurate this article is. Clearly, no one contacted…
How was the Jeff Tweedy political rant? Did he berate any fans for yelling"Casino Queen?"
Now I'm even more glad I didn't go.
