Speedy Ortiz headlines an indie rock spectacular at WonderRoot's intimate Reynoldstown space this Sunday, Jan. 12, joined by fellow Massachusettsians Grass Is Green, and locals Gold-Bears and Del Venicci.

Through its combination of growling guitars, sarcastic lyrics, and Sadie Dupuis' spunky, pop-friendly voice, Speedy Ortiz renovates the often tedious four-piece rock band to create music with attitude. The band, heavily influenced by Pavement, has a quick-paced sound that speaks right to the '90s grungy, flannel-clad slackers.

After 2013's critically-acclaimed Major Arcana (Carpark Records), Speedy Ortiz is now on tour promoting its upcoming EP due to be released in February, titled Real Hair, and the WonderRoot show is the first time they've been back since last August's stint at 529.

With Grass Is Green, Gold-Bears, and Del Venicci. $5. 9 p.m. Sun., Jan. 12. WonderRoot. 982 Memorial Dr. 404-254-5955.
