Dance-pop outfit Delorean parks at Masquerade

Last year, Spanish dance-pop band Delorean had to postpone its American tour after a serious breach in the group's safety occurred following an attempted kidnapping in Mexico. Almost an entire month's worth of dates were rescheduled including an Atlanta show at Masquerade. Named after one of the most memorable cars from the 1980's (made famous by the movie Back to the Future), Delorean will also be throwing fans into a time capsule with their retro-synth work combined with a future understanding of pop music.

After some of the band lost interest in the punk rock scene in 2000, Delorean's members picked up a sweeping interest in electronic music and eventually released its 2004 self-titled debut. The band slowly roped critics onto its side with 2009's, The Ayrton Senna EP, marking a hopeful turnaround in the group's musical journey.

Delorean's 2013 album Apar was recorded in a new studio the band built in its current home base, Barcelona, where it went for a more analog set up. The band also used fewer samples on the record, including vocals so they recruited members of Glasser and Chairlift to contribute, giving the project a more palpable and organic feeling.

Delorean plays the Masquerade tonight (Tues., Jan. 28), with Until the Ribbon Breaks. $16. 8 p.m. 691 North Ave.
