Pet Shop Boys, M.I.A., Flying Lotus, and more added to Moogfest

In the midst of the storm that shut down much of the South this week, Moogfest 2014 quietly added a few more headliners to its April festival. Asheville, North Carolina's celebration of synthesizer inventor Robert Moog just became a lot more vibrant. Pop megastars the Pet Shop Boys will now kick off the five-day festival on Wed., April 23.

While the addition of the British duo may seem a little mainstream for Moogfest, attention must be paid to their increasingly bizarre, theatrical stage shows. Also performing will be outspoken British/Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A., whose live shows can be visual treats in themselves. Flying Lotus and George Clinton keyboardist Bernie Worrell's funk-heavy orchestra are also joining the lineup as well as many other electronic acts. Moogfest's website has been blowing up for the last few days so the best way to catch up on the flurry of activity is to check it out for yourself.

Be sure to check Crib Notes for a special CL-exclusive discount on Moogfest tickets from 8 a.m. on Thurs., Feb. 6 till 11 a.m. on Fri., Feb. 7.
