BOSCO releases ‘MPH’, digital lookbook

Alt-R&B songstress speeds things up for her new single.

It has been four months and change since we last heard from BOSCO. The sultry, slow-burn of “Slippin” was enough to hold us over for a bit, but the kids these days have shorter attention spans than my pit bull. Fortunately, the radio silence wasn’t for a lack of good material to release, as evidence of BOSCO’s latest single, “MPH.”

The track takes the listener on a nighttime adventure through the city where there are no rules and no regrets. If “Slippin” was BOSCO dealing with love gone bad, then “MPH” is the rebound, and some. The NEVR-produced jam comes with an accompanying digital lookbook that - through gifs, vignettes, and photos (by Faisal Mohammed) - provides, a cool, Michael Mann-esque visual compliment to the audio.

As BOSCO told The WILD magazine, she was just doing her best Natalie Portman from Closer impression. “MPH” is just a, “story of a girl of the night who does not belong to anything - she’s not a streetwalker - just a role reversal. It brings to light the lack of human communication we have. Instant gratification in the way that a man would but in a way only a woman could, leaving little more than traces of lipstick.”
