Macaulay Culkin’s the Pizza Underground cheeses up the Mammal Gallery

This is real.

Macaulay Culkin’s the Pizza Underground, an actual pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band, brings its stoner gag to the Mammal Gallery tomorrow (Wed., March 19).

The Home Alone star, on vocals and kazoo, and his merry musicians, who perform on instruments ranging from the glockenspiel to pizza boxes for percussion, will play songs like “All Pizza Parties” (“All Tomorrow’s Parties”) and “Pizza Gal” (“Femme Fatale”). As pizza box percussionist Deenah Vollmer told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “We soon realized you can replace most any word with slice or cheese.”

And while the main draw will be staring at our favorite child star, aged (almost) beyond recognition, don’t let the PU overshadow the opening acts, who are actually good - Atlanta’s TV Dinner and French new-wavers La Femme will start the show.

It’s an all ages show, and of course, there’ll be pizza from Cameli’s. Additionally, the Mammal Gallery will be featuring a pizza-themed exhibit from local artist Lauren Barfield.

Wed., March 19. $10. 9 p.m. The Mammal Gallery. 91 Broad St. 404-771-6912.
