Salts unleash debut cassette via Athens' Raunch Records

Lovecraft-loving doom punks Salts' debut cassette was recently issued via Athens' upstart label, Raunch Records. The tape features a compilation highlighting a handful of likeminded acts from across the U.S. on the flipside, and will be available tonight when the band plays the Earl.

The Salts side includes three songs recorded last summer with former guitarist Joey Comonte, who was replaced earlier this year by Clay Kilbourne (Carbonas, G.G. King), and three unheard bedroom demos.

According to bassist Jacob Anderson, the b-side is a compilation of various bands, including Memphis punks the Manateees, picked by Raunch Records boss and Athens musician Jacky Ryder (the Humms).

If you prefer skate decks over tape decks, the band will also unveil new T-shirts designed by Detroit skating legend Bill Danforth.

Salts, Acid Freaks, and Onchi play the Earl tonight (Wednesday, April 2). $5. 9 p.m. 488 Flat Shoals Ave.
