Experimental beatmaster Deku (Brett Leggitt) is set to headline this month’s edition of the Left Field Experiment following the release of his latest spaced-out EP, Escapism.

He describes the release as “a love letter to Video Games, Literature, Cinema, Anime, Nature, Conversations, Spirituality, and all the other planes we escape to. It was created using a variety of samples, hand-crafted instrumentation, found sounds, and nostalgia.”

Progressive hip-hop collective Wake (Adam Venable and Keith William) will open the show along with a special double cypher featuring an impressive array of local producers and MC’s who will trade their talents in a one-time collaborative clusterfest.

The producer cypher will be headed by JP Villa, Illastrate, Dustin Teague, 10th Letter, and Dr. Conspiracy who will back various combinations of MC’s Boog Brown, Ricky Raw, Zano Bathroom, DT, Supa Nova, E. Lu, Sean G, and more.

As if all the aforementioned psych-hop madness wasn’t dizzying enough, local avant-electronic maestros the Morkestra, Divine Interface, and Knumbskull will also be spinning throughout the evening’s trippy festivities.

Deku, Wake, and many more. $5. 9 pm. Fri., April 11. 529 Flat Shoals Ave. 529atlanta.com
