Raury’s #AntiTour crashes Childish Gambino show

MC’s unique show hits the Beltline.

Over the weekend I linked up with Raury over at Avatar Studios in Buckhead for CL’s forthcoming Music Issue. There are times when, before you meet an artist, you play out how meeting them in person will match or contradict what you hear in their music. Oftentimes, the creator doesn’t come anywhere close to the consumer or critics expectations. This was not the case. The kid’s every bit of the cool, quirky, and maddeningly creative soul you’d expect him to be.

Anyway, Raury and his team were readying for a couple upcoming shows including another stop for the 17-year-old singer/songwriter’s #AntiTour, and invited me to sit through rehearsal.

Well, a little over a month ago, Raury brought the tour to Chidlsh Gambino’s sold out stop at the Masquerade. The video, comprised entirely of fan footage, shows Raury actually pulling off a set that lasted longer than the one he tried at a Tyler, the Creator show to kick off the tour.

Anyway, peep the message from Raury about the #AntiTour and why despite the idea behind it, it’s all love.

I know there’s probably like some rumors about me going and attacking peoples’ shows and like crashing them in like a negative way or something like that, but that is not the case. Every person that I choose to go and do this thing at is a person that I’m personal a fan of. I love their music. I have faith in their fans. I believe their fans have eclectic ears and they can understand my stuff too.
