Destroy All Music, Atlanta’s weekly descent into noise that airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. on 91.1 WREK-FM, turned 30 years-old in September. Tonight (Fri., Oct. 24), the show’s long-standing DJs Ellen McGrail and Tony Gordon host a 30th-anniversary party at Eyedrum, with a lineup filled out by a handful of local acts including Dirt Brain, Cell Therapy, Ex Black Natural, and Sufferbombdamage.

The underlying theme of this 30-year head-cleaning and eardrum smashing blowout is community. “The community has been a really important part of keeping Destroy All Music going,” says Gordon, who joined the show as a co-host in 1992. McGrail co-founded the show in 1984 with Glen Thrasher.

“I wanted to put together a night for the people within the local community who have been supportive and participated over the years,” Gordon adds.
