Mara unveils ‘Waiting for You’
Phantom Pop project Mara releases its unwieldy new single.

With Mara’s latest single, “Waiting for You,” singer and guitarist Jordan Parker sounds calming yet comatose, like he’s smiling while sinking to the bottom of the ocean. A cascade of guitars and clanging percussion swell around his warbling voice, creating a chaotic play of tension and release before the track fades away as quickly as it emerged.
“Waiting for You” offers a heavier counterpart to the relatively mellow atmosphere of Mara’s self-titled debut EP, yet retains all of the murkiness that defines the group’s emerging “phantom pop” aesthetic.
