Flamingo Shadow’s tropical fantasies shine on ‘Vibe Control’

? Vibe Control is first proper and cohesive collection of songs to arrive from Flamingo Shadow. It’s a four-song EP — just enough to leave the ears wanting more, as songs such as “Runnin,’” “Wild One,” and the EP’s title track establish the tropical punk flare this pat of strange birds has under its wings.

? Made up of David Matysiak (voice, guitar, and bass), Devin Brown (drums), Madeline Adams (voice, percussion), and Katie Robertson (keys, percussion, voice), the group’s sprightly and surrealist pop arrangements reveal a playfully alienating paradise in each song.

? Flamingo Shadow plays Creative Loafing’s Best Of Atlanta block party on Fri., Sept. 25. The group will have handmade copies of the EP along with zines for on the merch table to celebrate its release.
