Atlanta's own Steve's Live Music is primed to make sweeping changes to business operations. Steve Grossman, owner of the popular venue and bar, will focus on booking tours, presenting shows and expanding his reach to satiate demand for music in Sandy Springs and beyond.
“I have musicians that are calling me every day... that have been trying to play at Steve's that can't get in. I can only bring so many people in at one time. There's definitely a lot of musicians in Atlanta looking for a place to play, and there's a lot of places looking to see how they can get music,” Grossman said.
The new business plan involves working with artists to bring shows to other venues and bars in the region - not just at Steve's Live Music. No specific locations have been confirmed yet. Additionally, Grossman plans to leave restaurant and bar operations to another person entirely, allowing him to focus his efforts squarely on the music.
"The restaurant business is not my passion," Grossman said, "I can't do anymore booking and promoting if I don't take my foot out... in hopes that someone will want to fill that void. The other foot now can go forward."
According to Grossman, forward is already in the works. He's currently working with restaurants and venues to bring more live music to the larger Atlanta area and even to Marietta, bringing the eclectic styles Steve's is known for to a larger audience.
"We have a website that's going up in the next several weeks called Steve's Live Music Presents. You'll probably see stuff in the next couple of weeks. This is happening now. We're moving," Grossman said.
The future of the Steve's Live Music's current brick and mortar location, however, is uncertain in the midst of these expansions. According to Grossman, the location's lease is set to expire in July, and everything is on the table.
"All roads are open. I have until July to find someone who wants to partner with me in the restaurant side of things. My hope and my belief is that someone will want to be part of this team. We're waiting to see if someone is serious enough to take us up on it."
