Flower frontman and Megafuss label owner Jack Fowler has launched a new community of DIY musicians, venues, and promoters called http://tourdiy.orgtourdiy. The idea is to build a network for DIY bands across the country to help each other book tours. Check out the Facebook group to learn more.

Fowler is also hosting a benefit show for Kevin Scheidt, the local photographer/musician who passed away on May 17. The show is at The Pony Ranch and features Flower, Fox Wound, Not Having Fun, Harris, Poison Coats, and Walking Machine. All proceeds will go to Scheidt’s memorial fund, in the hopes of offsetting his family’s expenses. A GoFundMe page has been set up as well.

Local sound artist Andrew Kingston has recorded a new album of ambient drone and musique concrète titled Decompositions. Stream it and read more about his creative process at Bandcamp.

ArtsATL has a review of the memorial concert, as well a piece written by fellow orchestra member Michael Kurth. Thanks to Creative Loafing contributor and Omni drummer Billy Mitchell for the heads-up — give his story a read on Crib Notes.
