These living room shows typically feature a comprehensive set spanning Haskins’ body of songs — touching on everything from his solo albums to Love and Rockets and Bauhaus classics, and always a few unexpected covers — rendered in troubadour style.

David J Haskins
, former Bauhaus and Love and Rockets singer and bass player, and author of Who Killed Mister Moonlight?: Bauhaus black magick and benediction (Jaw Bone Press), returns to Electron Gardens June 12. But almost as quickly as word spread the show sold out.

Fear not! If you’re up for a short drive along HWY 316, Mr. Haskins is reading from and signing copies of his book at Avid Bookshop in Athens on Mon., June 13. He’s also performing live on Tues., June 14 at ATHICA: Athens Institute for Contemporary Art. These living room shows typically feature a comprehensive set spanning Haskins’ body of songs — touching on everything from his solo albums to Love and Rockets and Bauhaus classics, and always a few unexpected covers — rendered in troubadour style.

Atlanta’s alt rock trio the Hot Place (featuring Jeff Calder of the Swimming Pool Q’s, Lisa King, and Mike Lynn) opens both shows with a stripped-down acoustic set. Occasionally guest musicians have joined Haskins for impromptu collaborations. In February, Atlanta-based singer and guitarist James Hall took the stage at Electron Gardens to perform a handful of songs together including “Waiting For the Flood” from Love and Rockets’ 1987 Earth, Sun, Moon LP.

Haskins says, in a February CL interview: “It’s very casual, but all of the players that play with me are top notch. We don’t even rehearse. They just come in and play. It’s very alive.” Read the full interview

The Avid Book Shop reading/signing on Mon., June 13 runs from 6:15-7:30 p.m. 493 Prince Ave. 706-352-2060.
