Slang guitarist and Big Brutus songwriter Sean Bryant describes the feeling of his latest video, “The Drunk,” as coming in waves of “dreamy seventh chords.” Filmed by the Wander Project, a production outfit that captures music live and in-the-moment, the video focuses on tree branches reflecting off of a glossy guitar, followed by Bryant sharing his delicate lament. ”The song fit well with the style: dreamy, floaty, wanders in and out of focus,” Bryant says.

“The Drunk” was released earlier this year, along with Tiny Box, a self-proclaimed “spring cleaning album.” The video encapsulates late-summer melancholy: The stillness that comes at the end of an era, Bryant chanting “love is gone” in hopes that your slow summer brain will roll with the changes to come.

Bryant also has a new, more “rock ‘n’ roll” album in the works. ”There will be quiet moments, but it’s not as quiet,” he says of the LP, titled The Odd Willow, which is scheduled for a fall release. ”I’m looking forward to this one. I wasn’t planning on finishing an album that soon — if it’s just a collection of songs it feels piecemeal to me.”

In the meantime, here’s a sneak-peak at a demo titled Games for Nameless Things
