Australian post-punk underdogs feedtime are playing a show at the Earl tonight (Tues., April 3) and we've got a pair of tickets to give away to the first person to answer the following question. It's sort of an easy one, so no Wikipedia ...

Who produced feedtime's 1989 album, Suction. Go!
Van Dyke Parks is a quintessential figure in the evolution of American music, perhaps best known as the other genius behind many of the lyrics and arrangements that went into the Beach Boys' SMiLE LP.
Now touring behind a new 7-inch series and Arrangements Vol. 1, a compilation featuring the man's greatest collaborations with Ry Cooder, Arlo Guthrie, Little Feat, and others, Parks settles up at a grand piano with stand-up bassist Gentleman Jim Cooper for a set of sparkling avant-garde pop tunes this Saturday, February 18 at the Earl, and Crib Notes has a pair of tickets to giveaway.

In February of 1966 Van Dyke Parks met Brian Wilson through a producer and Pet Sounds background vocalist named Terry Melcher. That same year, Melcher was working with another band. Parks played organ on a song called "5D (Fifth Dimension)” for this band’s third album. Name the band and the album on which "5D (Fifth Dimension)" first appeared. Go!

International party starter and Dim Mak Records founder Steve Aoki released his new album Wonderland last month, and this Thursday, Feb. 9, he's bringing his EDM romp to Atlanta.
We've got a pair of tickets to tomorrow's show for the first commenter who can identify 1) the sound inspiration behind "Steve Jobs," the song he dedicates to the deceased Apple founder on his new album, and 2) the name of the producer he collaborated with on the song. Be the first to answer both questions correctly and the tickets are yours.

You’d think World AIDS Day (which, as it sounds, is designed to put the focus on the international epidemic) would be a day of somber reflection. But for local soul scenester/singer/dancer Madam CJ, World AIDS Day is a time for celebration; that’s evident in the fact that, come Dec. 1, she — along with a host of poets, vocalists, dancers and more — will be ringing in the day with a special performance at the event Arts Coming Together to end HIV.
The affair is being sponsored by the nonprofit organization SisterLove Inc. — which is on a “mission to eradicate the adverse impact of HIV/AIDS and other reproductive health challenges.” For Madam CJ, her part in the upcoming proceedings is more than just another chance to get on stage. “I like to give back. I enjoy it,” she says. “It’s my duty as a human being.”
Still, her performance is yet another opportunity to spread the word about her latest R&B-soul-pop-house-flavored album, That’s Madam 2 U!, which was released April 2011 — and is available now on CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes, Last FM, or, Madam CJ says, “From me!” Expect to hear at least one track from that album tomorrow — one that’s been re-imagined by an internationally known ATL resident — in a stripped-down format.
“I’m gonna do the Daz-I-Kue remix of my single ‘Smell Urself.’ I usually have dancers for this song, but they wont make this show,” says Madam CJ, "so I gotta make it do what it do!”
Arts Coming Together to end HIV. Free. 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 1. South Fulton Arts Center, 4645 Bunker Road SW, College Park. 404-505-7777. sisterlove.org.
Bonus: Here’s a little listen and look at the lady:
It ain't Christmastime till the best-releases-of-the-year lists start pouring in. Spin jump-starts it with a 2011 year-end mixtape list. Atlanta's well-repped: 2 Chainz's Codeine Cowboy gets the No. 1 a spot. And my vote for best instrumental album of the year, DJ Burn One's The Ashtray holds down No. 15 is listed. Local yokels Alley Boy, Rittz, Soulja Boy, Travis Porter, and Trouble all get love, too.
The best part: You don't have to #OccupyNorthPole to own these joints. The Internet is free.
Correction: As the commenter below pointed out, the list is alphabetical, not numbered in priority.

The folks at Apache Cafe love you.
Seriously. I mean, they must love you; if they didn't, why else would they be hosting a Customer Appreciation event on Nov. 26 that features a free live show by lauded jazz/hip-hop/soul/etc. trumpeter Russell Gunn and the band Electrik Butterfly?
For folks who decide to check out the complimentary concert, Gunn — an Atlanta-based artist who has earned a reputation for producing an ultra-eclectic body of work — promises a a night of genre-bounding music ... all done as an homage (of sorts) to the legendary heavy metal Black Sabbath.
"The musical engine of Black Sabbath, guitarist Tony lommi, has always been an uncloseted jazz lover. It's completely evident in the sound of Black Sabbath and through his own admission," says Gunn. "With my band I pay a kind of reverse tribute — in that I am a jazz musician and uncloseted rock lover.
"We are doing arrangements of early original Black Sabbath music. From the original lineup of Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Ozzy," he continues. "We keep the spirit of the original recordings while expanding on the ideas through improvisation and modern arranging. The band is myself on trumpet with guitar effects, Ede Wright on guitar, Che Marshall on drums, and Kevin Scott on bass. People can expect the completely unexpected and leave Apache knowing they have just been blown away. It's really hard to articulate exactly what and how we do it."
Miss it at your own peril, people.
Free. Sat., Nov. 26. Doors open at 8 p.m. Apache Cafe, 64 3rd St. 404-876-5436. More info at: www.apachecafe.info.
And in case you've never seen Gunn in action, watch him do his thing below the jump:

Living legend and hip-hop futurist Afrika Bambaataa has been in Atlanta for several days, dropping knowledge (the fifth element) at Occupy Atlanta during last weekend's canceled Atlanta Hip Hop Day, and on WRFG-FM's "Beats and Lyrics Show" with JayForce of 89.3.
He continues tonight with a free public lecture at Othello Event Hall, hosted by the Atlanta arm of FTP Movement and the community activist organization's founder Kalonji Jama Changa, who emailed the following alert:
Come hear the WISDOM of Afrika Bambaataa LIVE as he gives a GUIDANCE and ADVICE to the Atlanta Hip Hop community!... THIS FREE EVENT IS NOT A CONCERT or PARTY; this is a "Meeting Of The Minds" for people that OVERSTAND that Hip Hop is BEYOND entertainment!!!
No word on the specific topic Bambaataa will cover, but considering this is the same man who metamorphosed from ’70s Bronx street gang leader (Black Spades) to breakbeat DJ pioneer, founder of the Universal Zulu Nation, and producer of one of the coldest and most sampled hip-hop songs, does it really matter?
Free. 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Othello Event Hall, 1170 Sylvan Road. 404-753-0515.

Carse’s daylong event comes complete with food trucks and a local celebrity dunk tank. And yes, word on the street has it that Criminal Records owner Eric Levin himself will be stepping into the dunk tank on this brisk, October afternoon. You know what to do.
There’s also a handful of carnival and field day games (three-legged race etc.), a ping-pong tournament and yes, free Pops. There will also be musical performances by Spooky Partridge, Puddles the Clown, Sealions, Trances Arc and a few more.
Shannon Wright is playing a show at the Earl Saturday night (October 22) with Hollow Stars and Vincas, and Crib Notes has a pair of tickets to give away to the first person who can answer the following question correctly.
Before she was an Atlanta-based indie rock songstress, Shannon Wright got her start playing in the Jacksonville, FL band Crowsdell. Name the 1994 Crowsdell album that was recorded with Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus.
