Project 7's new show takes its name from a bit of internet jargon—the Facebook wall—playing on its unintended suggestion of separation rather than connection. “The show is about relationships and how we are living in that 'wall-to-wall' relationship with each other,” says artistic director Cherisse Wakeham. “We want to take it back to the face-to-face level through dance.”

Project 7 is a four-year-old contemporary dance company in Atlanta that seeks to make pieces accessible to audiences who are often otherwise intimidated by modern dance. “A lot of times when I go to a modern dance concert, it can seem a little inaccessible even to another dancer,” says Wakeham. “Our goal is to bridge that gap and make it a conversation.” To that end, dancers will present each piece by speaking directly to the audience before performing. Wall to Wall is comprised of two acts and about 14 short pieces, with music ranging from Sigur Ross, Bjork and Madonna.

Project 7 Contemporary Dance Company will present Wall-to-Wall at 7 Stages Theater on Sunday, January 23, at 7 pm. Tickets are $18-22. For more information call the box office 404-523-7647.
