It took a couple of weeks amidst the bustle of the holiday movie season but I've finally had a chance to see Faster, the new action-filled drama starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. The title Faster, inspired more by the intensity of movement than the speed it implies is your average rough and tumble guy name Driver (Johnson) whose brother is gunned down in a double-cross during a heist. Years later, he sets out seeking retribution for his brother's murder by systematically eliminating all parties responsible for his death. As simple a plot as a vendetta film seems, Faster takes on a different hue as each of its pivotal characters adds heart and depth to each scene that blurs the line between the good and bad guys.

Set against Driver is a member of the group who felled his brother, Evangelist (Akinnuoye-Agbaje) who years later has taken the high road and found religion. The roles as nemesis gets jostled as Evangelist reaches out to minster Driver and lead him away from his vengeful path.

Agbaje's Evangelist is just another character on his impressive resume. Most recently known for his character Mr. Eko on the series Lost, he made people stand and take notice as the powerful, controlling Simon Adebesi on the HBO series Oz.

Recently Agbaje stopped through Atlanta to discuss Faster, his philosophy on the subject matter of the film and some of his previous and upcoming acting projects.

Faster is currently in wide release in area theaters.
