Georgia continues to lag the nation in controlling greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, according to a press release today from the Georgia chapter of the Sierra Club.
In an August cover story, Creative Loafing detailed Georgia Power's contribution to global warming and the aggressive role its parent, Southern Co., takes in blocking solutions to global warming. But the Sierra Club was reacting today to the state Environmental Protection Division's decision to propose a very unrestrictive permit to a coal-burning plant in southwest Georgia for yet another power company, LS Power of New Jersey.
You can let Gov. Perdue know what you think about the permit by calling 404-656-1776 or by faxing 404-657-7332.
