Randomly Noted Hostel II: What the hell is it?

I was visiting Atlantic Station 16 last week and recoiled at the sight of the Hostel II poster, which manages to defy identification while still being completely disgusting:
Nausea-inducing qualities aside, it's arguably a great poster, because it seizes your attention and burrows into your memory. But just what is it, exactly? A close-up of an appendectomy? The floor of a butcher shop at closing time? A baby picture of Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force? If anyone has ideas, I'd be delighted to hear them. Hostel II opens in June.
