Chris Rock asks court to determine paternity
Mother of 13-year-old boy claims comedian is her son's father
Associated PressSTATESBORO, Ga. - Chris Rock has asked a Georgia court to start paternity proceedings to determine if heâs the father of a 13-year-old boy whose mother tried to file a paternity lawsuit against the actor and comedian last month.
Rock âdesires to contribute to the support, maintenance, and educationâ of the boy if thereâs evidence to prove heâs the father, according to papers that Rockâs attorney filed Monday in Bulloch County Superior Court.
Between Eddie Murphy and Rock, "baby daddy" is no laughing matter. Rock requested the case be heard in Georgia, maybe so as not to further mess up matters at home with his wife of 10 years, Malaak. It's kind of sad, really. I looked to both comedians' marriages as examples of how beautiful African-American couples could stay together â amid the craziness of Hollywood no less. Or at least I did, until Murphy's 15-year commitment to Nicole Mitchell ended in '06, and Rock's poorly conceived I Think I Love My Wife movie this year.
