Bah - that's all just liberal mumbo-jumbo. God Almighty (which looks remarkably like Pat Robertson with a beard) and his prophet George tell me that it's just part of the Earth's cycle. There is no such thing as smog or global warming. SUVs are proof that God loves us, and wants us to be happy.
what can we do to stop the clearcutting? I understand, houses need building and builders need to profit, but at WHAT COST? They say if we don't cut the trees down, they'll die anyway from the construction, but this is just not realistic. Last night I got a bird's-eye view of my mature, NE Atl n'hood, which is plagued by infill housing. Thank you mapquest satellite pics! It is so easy to tell which n'hoods have been developed in the past decade, b/c there is no canopy - event he rr tracks are obscured by trees, but all the new n'hood look naked. Just hours earlier, I'd watched a few "house hunter" shows on HGTV. All the new n'hoods, inc. a couple visited by the Atlanta house hunter, are clear cut. I know w/ these readers I'm prob. "preaching to the converted" but it's time to show the developers we won't support them. I'd like to start a movement for all new home buyers: refuse to purchase new homes in clear-cut developments, and tell the developers and builders why you wont' spend your money with them. A few trees left around the perimeter don't count. If there are no trees by the streets, something is terribly wrong. Why are they doing this? BTW, I got my dd's asthma inhaler 3 for the price of one from Canada!
