Alert: David Chase spoils "the Sopranos."
And don't worry, I can't give away the ending because you haven't thought of it yet.
Open-ended endings are lame, so I can only take this as an insult from Chase. It was a good series -- I'll go ahead and say the best ever -- for 85 episodes and 45 minutes, then it devolved into drawn-out parallel parking. And the quick cut to black rather than the usual fade out was a cheap gimmick to mess with viewers who had made the show, and HBO, what it is.

Although it wasn't nearly as insulting as the "Seinfeld" finale, which was the biggest F.U. to a loyal viewing audience as I've ever seen: "Hey, guess what, you're a loser for being sympathetic to these narcissistic losers all these years that we're going to parade all the people they've dicked over through a courtroom and then sentence the cast â and, by extension, you the viewer â to jail. WTF?
