Question time: Skyrockets in flight

Posted by Curt Holman on Tue, Jul 3, 2007 at 9:39 PM

It being ID4 eve, I have to ask What is the best place in the area for viewing fireworks? (Drought conditions notwithstanding.) I've heard of tall parking garages that have open roof platforms and offer allegedly marvelous views of the fireworks at Lenox Square, Chamblee and several others, all at once. Maybe they're in the Northside Hospital/"Pill Hill" area, maybe they're the stuff of myth, I don't know. A place that allows for great viewing and no traffic jams may just be the July 4 ideal.

Our friends' farm in Covington -- except there won't be any fireworks there this year because of the drought. Damn that George Bush and his global warming!

The best place I ever viewed fireworks in Georgia was from the top of Stone Mountain. We could see fireworks from all over the metro area there, as well as the ones right above our heads. It wasn't too crowded, either, because most people were down in the field, watching the laser show.
