The subject of this week’s Profile is: a) a CEO in such high demand that during a rare reprieve between jobs, she received 22 invitations to candidate, b) a volunteer who helps those who’ve been snubbed by society so she can make society better, c) a leader working to get Atlanta’s most transformative public project in recent history off the ground, d) a poet, artist, musician and tri-athlete, or e) all of the above. If you guessed “e,” let us introduce you to Beltline Inc. CEO Terri Montague.

Montague takes an occasional lunch break from her harrowing schedule to play the piano at a Summerhill church. She’s so busy she hasn’t had time to unpack her own piano.

“I have some great stories from people who I met in prison,” says Montague, who, while earning two master’s degrees in city planning and real estate at MIT, spent every other weekend volunteering with a prison outreach group.

The daughter of a 27-year veteran of D.C.’s transit authority, Montague understands how crucial public transit is. “My whole objective is to get the Beltline built,” she says.
