News McKinney vs. metaphors

Former U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney has filed a libel suit against the AJC.
Atlanta Progressive News reports the suit lists five "false and defamatory" statements about McKinney penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning AJC op-ed columnist Cynthia Tucker in a July 2006 column.
Fifth on the list:
McKinney takes issue with a statement by Tucker that McKinney "doesn't have the power or prestige to pass a resolution in support of sweetened iced tea."
I hope this gets to trial, if only to hear McKinney's attorney attempt to prove she was indeed powerful and prestigious enough to legislate on behalf of sweet tea.
It's too bad legendary attorney Lionel Hutz is no longer with us. It's the case he was born to argue.

I've been writing for years: Atlanta ain't big enough for two Cynthias. I propose we organize a mud-wrestling contest for the 2 Cyns. Unfortunately, neither has much sense of humor.
How can you ignore the cool part of the suit -- that someone from the AJC's Cobb bureau called in a bomb threat to Cynthia's campaign headquarters? This proves that the AJC is hiring Klansmen to appeal to the peckerwood conservative Republicans in Cobb and keep the suburbanites reading the paper!!!
When will M. Cadinale go away? He\\\'s as big a joke as Cynthia McKinney. His newspaper is like a bad high school newspaper paid for by his friends, which include CM and Angela Moore - the 2 darlings of Georgia\\\'s political scene.
Hmmm... use of the word "peckerwood" in a comment place, eh??? A clue! That was a signature bon mote of that one-time king (or "kang" as we'd say) of the Atlanta redneck literati, Peachtree Screed. Mark my word, he'll wander back to these here woods no later than February of '08. Wait 'til that NYC winter sets in. Wasn't so brutal, we wouldn't have to endure folksingers.
