Scene & Herd Morrissey returns!

I had a bad feeling about Morrissey's concert at Chastain Park Amphitheater Friday, July 20. Ever since I moved to Atlanta, I've heard bad things about the wine-and-cheese crowds that patronize the Classic Chastain concert series during the summer: how disconnected and self-involved they are, and how they talk loudly over the music. So I decided not to go, even though I felt bad about missing the show. When I read Andisheh Nouraee's review, I was happy I wasn't there.
Well, Morrissey is doing a final run of U.S. dates before heading back into the studio to record a follow-up to his last album, Ringleader of the Tormentors. Shockingly, the itinerary consists solely of major markets and makeup dates from when he got sick in June and had to cancel a bunch of shows -- and Atlanta! Guess he thought that Chastain gig really sucked, too. The concert happens Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Tabernacle -- not one of my favorite venues, but sure to attract a livelier crowd.

I'm a big fan of The Tabernacle, mostly because in my opinion it's a unique venue, not too big, but sizable enough to hold audiences for bigger-draws. It does have its downs, however. What other venues would be good for an act like him? The Fox? I can't think of too many other indoor places.
Dry your eyes, dear Andisheh. I retract my earlier insult and vow to never again besmirch the Pope of Mope. Or whatever other monikers people have tagged on him. Only Morrissey could get away with brandishing a tommy gun on an album cover. For that alone he is Le Badass.
Anyone that says the crowd at the Morrisey show was disconnected is just simply wrong. While Morrissey may tried his best to show his disdain for the chair jockies out there- on the whole it rocked. And for a self-absorbed crowd..as it has been put- having the sheriff pull the plug before the show was over is not half bad.
Morrissey and the band were great, but the crowd was much more subdued than usual for a Morrissey concert. And he did cut the show short. The set-list had National Front Disco and Life Is A Pigsty, but he didn't play them. For several weeks, tickets were only available to the show as part of a multi-show package. The result -- many of the people there weren't there to see Morrissey. They were there to be at Chastain.
I would love to see him at the Roxy or Center Stage, but I'll take the Tabernacle in a New York minute.
i thought it was a great show, chastain is more about the outdoor experience anyways...plus it was fun just to see someone there that was not that bad...i had a great time, got drunk with my friends and laughed at morrisey making fun of the "Pig-n-Chik" i had a great time at the show and that is all that matters...who gives a fuck about what the rent-payers have to say anyways...im sure the writer is busy running food during his day shift anyways

And heard on 96 Rock of all places. Saved my life: "Right Back Where We Started From"...cops played it to torment the kidnappers who held me during a hostage situation.
Hey, don't go off topic! That was a Smiths reference! Remember "Rubber Ring"? Man, I felt so clever when I wrote that, and y'all don't even appreciate it. I feel like "Half a Person" ... ha ha ...
Dammit, Mosi, how can you expect me to catch every zinger you rocket my way? I am human and I need to be loved. Just like everybody else does. (I need to go ahead and shut my trap before someone starts busting out "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore.")
