Skintastic?

Posted by Curt Holman on Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 7:35 PM

Maybe I’m crazy for noticing this, but Monday it struck me as odd that Yahoo News/Reuters would post a story about “Mr. Skin,” a website devoted to the nude appearances of actresses in motion pictures. The site got a mighty big plug in the movie Knocked Up (which Felicia Feaster reviewed in June), as a rival to a half-baked startup project attempted by Ben Stone (Seth Rogen) and his nudity-obsessed buddies.

Then I realized that the DVD release of Knocked Up is next Tuesday, Sept. 25. Can the Mr. Skin story be some kind of cross-promotion for the disc? The story doesn’t actually mention the video (the timely hook is the publication of a Mr. Skin book). But can it just be a coincidence? I can’t figure it out.

Speaking of the Knocked Up disc, I’ve seen it, and it includes some funny special features, including this now-famous deleted scene, featuring Jonah Hill of Superbad.
