One thousand Rabbis associated with the Rabbinical Alliance of America and the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the U.S. and Canada are sending a special emissary to Atlanta to perform an ancient Jewish prayer ritual beseeching divine intervention to end the drought.
The last time Rabbi Yehuda Levin performed this ritual, Aug. 7, 1986, four days of rain followed throughout various areas in the South, according to a statement distributed by Christian Newswire.
"Orthodox Jews wish to show solidarity with those suffering from the drought and other natural disasters. We want to kick off a nationwide movement of prayer. Furthermore, we wish to announce a program which we believe could curtail much of the disaster our country has been experiencing," declared Rabbi Yehuda Levin.
The prayer ritual will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gold Dome.
According to a statement by the rabbi, he prayed for rain on the steps of the Statehouse in Columbia, S.C., in 1986. Almost 3 inches of rain descended on Columbia during the next four days.
We could be on to something here. After Rabbi Levin has his shot, we should invite religious leaders of all faiths to take turns praying for rain.

Yet more religious leaders announcing "programs" for us. Bet it's a Facebook application. Yawn.
I'm not holding my breath this time. With all the environmental destruction we've wreaked and inspired, G-d is way too angry at us to listen. Time to bring out the sackcloth and ashes.
Do you know much about Rabbi Levin? The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform (abortionno.org), an organization liking planned parenthood to the Holocaust and pro-choice activists to Nazis, has cited the support of Rabbi Yehuda Levin. Who is Rabbi Yehuda Levin? What are some of his other stances? Due to a gay-pride parade in Jerusalem, Rabbi Levin flew there to protest. He supported the use of violence and said, âI promise there's going to be bloodshed - not just on that day, but for months afterward[1].â Question â Do you support the use of violence to support your political agendas? The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform has no problem with it, clearly, by allying themselves with Rabbi Levin. Rabbi Yehuda Levin is NOT a voice for mainstream Orthodox Judaism, he is a fringe element at best. Rabbi Yehuda Levin supports the EXCOMMUNICATION of Senator Joseph Lieberman. The âexcommunicationâ was performed by the extremist New York Torah Court. The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America counts Lieberman as a board member. Rabbi Levin is, again, NOT a voice for mainstream Judaism. CONCLUSION: Rabbi Yehuda Levin is a right-wing extremist and is not a voice for Orthodox Judaism at large. He supports violence in response to outed homosexuals and the ex-communication of his fellow Jews that differ with his politics. He has further debased himself by allying himself with the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform and their policy of exploiting the memory of holocaust martyrs to prove their point. They say that with Rabbi Levinâs sanction that they have the sanction of the Jewish community. That simply is not so. The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform was just at GSU for the last two days with giant billboards of aborted fetuses, and giant displays of holocaust victims with pics of swastikas and the like. He can keep his prayers, we don't need him to be an intermediary with God for us. He is a fanatic and a disgrace to the Jewish people.
