News Capitol rain dance, pt. 1

It's an especially busy day at CL, so you'll have to wait a bit for our full report on Gov. Sonny Perdue's prayer service for rain at the Capitol today.
I will tell you this — when Scott Henry and I arrived at the service, it was overcast. When we left, the sky over the Gold Dome was blue.

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then you Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." (Matthew 6:5-6) I guess Jesus doesn't like public posturing.
With 432 Churches in our humble community of 96,000, i've been praying for a good, old fashioned, pragmatic, online bible study: Jude 1:12 (NIV) These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm— shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead.
Looking at the 10-day forecast, today's "pray-in" may have backfired. They were predicting rain this weekend before the rally; now, there's no rain at all in the forecast for nearly two weeks. Maybe God is pissed that He was used as a PR ploy.
