From a CNN.com story, on why Atlanta is now America's bank robbery capital:
FBI says it's the result of rising violent crime and increased number of banks.
And don't let me get started on the photo they use to accompany the story.

It seems to me that banks could end robberies by closing all in person banking transactions. In this day and age with ATM cards and online banking and direct deposits there is really no need for someone to physically go to a bank. Heck, in a lot of cases you can start an account online. It's tough to be involved in a robbery when you're sitting at the keyboard of your computer in the comfort of your own home.
