Atlanta hits water conservation goal ... barely

Posted by Thomas Wheatley on Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 12:23 AM

Good work, ya bunch of nonflushin', brown-lawn ownin', dehydrated lovable lugs. From the city's Department of Watershed Management:

February 8, 2008 – Atlanta’s residents and businesses heeded Mayor Shirley Franklin’s call to conserve during January, using an average of 81.26 million gallons of water a day (mgd), .25 percent under the City’s target of 81.47 mgd. (These numbers reflect production from the Hemphill and Chattahoochee water treatment plants; the City’s share of the North Area Treatment Plant production is not included since that plant has its own river withdrawal permit.)
