The Global War On Terror statistics -- DoD's terminology, not mine -- combine the casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. This week's Add It Up was to mark the service of those who are deployed in Iraq or who have lost their lives there. I respectfully agree with Nast that toppling Saddam Hussein played no role in preventing a post-9/11 terrorist attack on our soil. There are positive sides to the U.S. entering Iraq -- number of schools opened, number of voters in the last election. But I thought it was better to see what the state of Georgia and we as a nation and have lost, rather than what another country has gained.
