500,000 coffins in middle Georgia?

Posted by Thomas Wheatley on Tue, Jul 22, 2008 at 6:58 PM

Creepiest video of the day comes to us from renowned levelhead and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' website "Prison Planet." He's got a video that shows an undisclosed location in Georgia that is stacked with "hundreds of thousands" cheap plastic coffins. The writer notes that Atlanta is home to the world's busiest airport, near military bases, and serves as the center of operations of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. And apparently -- wish someone would've included me in this memo -- "the Government is expecting a half million people to die relatively soon."

Let us not forget that if you're in the stiffs business, you probably want to have a lot of inventory on hand and be located near a distribution hub -- such as Atlanta.

If you'd like to read more about your imminent resting place, here's a website for the products. Here's a link to another Jones site that actually has some numbers to the whole mess, including speculation about whether we'll be buried or burned in them. Have a great Tuesday, Atlanta!

From Reddit, posted by rhcpd: This is nothing more than just typical disinformation designed to raise hype (and maybe video sales, etc.). Consider the sources... It took about five minutes of basic research to ascertain that yes, there is a company within 25 miles of the supposed location in the videos (Madison, Georgia) that actually manufactures these vaults. Instead of linking to some unrelated manufacturer (polyguardvaults.com) that is located outside of Georgia, why didn't the blowhards who concocted this little scare act reference the manufacturer of these things that's right in the area: Vantage Products 960 Almon Road Covington GA 30014 770-788-0136 Telephone 770-788-0361 Fax 1-800-481-3303 http://vantageproducts.com Here is a page featuring a black model that looks just like those in the videos. http://vantageproducts.com/Top%20Seal.html Isn't it highly probable that this is just a bunch of overstock? Weren't there some industrial buildings in the video as well? Hmmmmmm... I guess it's just so much more fun to run around announcing the various ways in which the sky might be falling, than to do a little basic research.

Do you want an unprepared government (Katrina) or a prepared one? The assertion that "the Government is expecting a half million people to die relatively soon" is ridiculous. The "Government" is damned if they do (prepare for unforeseen disasters, natural and otherwise), and damned if they don't (Katrina). If all these crazy/smart conspiracy theorists would put 1/10 of their mental energy into coming up with solutions to our problems rather than trying to figure out how The Powers That Be are ultimately going to get them, we'd be a lot better off.

Yeah, but the thing is it would be nice if the governement told us they expected half a million of us to drop dead some day soon. Maybe we could even have a chance to, you know, help ourselves? Instead of being caught out and the goverment going "don't worry, we know half of you are dead. We actually knew it was going to happen so GREAT NEWS! we have enough coffins for everyone" yeeeey

Big deal. The government expects all people to die at some point. And you know what? They do. That's the great big failing of all of our vaunted scientific achievements. All that time and money spent and the death rate still hovers at 100%...

regarding the lack of research, this was on Alex Jones' site, so why would anyone expect logic or well researched facts

Dear Fear Mongering: 500,000 units of OVERSTOCK? You're the one in fantasy land my friend- any company that wasted that much labor and material and left them out in the sun to rot would be out of business. Unless of course, somebody with an endless supply of money, like our government, had ordered them. Or maybe they're just shipping containers to transport all the WMDs we found in Iraq back here for neutralization.

FearM is correct, if you read up these are not coffins. they are the vaults that you lower a coffin into after the funeral. some area use concrete vaults this prevents leeching into the soil so where are the half million coffins at? An these wdont look or soun like they would be condusive to inceneration either as thier material is not something that would burn up well as opposed to good ol wood coffins. don,t panic

Since it takes oil to make plastic. Maybe they made a bunch while the price was low to compete.

And there's more, those coffins actually have room for 2 people inside them. So, the real number isn't 500.000, it's 1.000.000. They're expecting a million people to die soon? Now that's scary!
