The music, movies and hot rods have all fallen into place for this year's Drive-Invasion, which as usual hits the Starlight Six Drive-In on Labor Day Weekend — which in my humble opinion is the best weekend to be in Atlanta period. (Also see AJC Decatur Book Festival and Dragon*Con, among other events.)

The music on Saturday, Aug. 30, features headliner the California surf-legend Agent Orange (which also headlined at the Starlight's sister weekender, the Tiki Invasion in Montclair, Calif.) along with Gargantua and the Forty-Fives, to name a few. The comedy-themed movie lineup is Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Blazing Saddles, Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke, This Is Spinal Tap and the truly classic Kentucky Fried Movie.

For Sunday, Aug. 31, the music headliner will be Nashville's the Legendary Shack Shakers along with the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash and the Psycho-DeVilles, among others. The sci-fi/horror-themed movies will be Forbidden Planet, Barbarella, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (the original, silly), A Boy and His Dog and Frankenstein Island.

The weekend also will feature the annual Dixie Fried Car Show.

Just to get everyone all excited, here's an exquisitely bad clip from Frankenstein Island …

I know that plenty of y'all know the coolness that is 1977's Kentucky Fried Movie, directed by John Landis and written by Jim Abrahams and David Zucker in the first of a long line of awesome works of satire by this pair. (Next up: 1980's Airplane!)

This is but one of several hilarious moments from KFM
