We all gotta dream, don't we?
For seven years, we've been living somebody's idea of a perfect world: terrorist attacks, multiple wars, killer hurricanes and economic calamity. Oh, what fun it's been.
Now, the rest of us get to fantasize a little. Imagine a world where the hero comes riding into the White House, carried by a magical force that heralds the arrival of an enlightened era. He brings along with him the hopes of millions, perhaps billions for peace, for prosperity, even for a step toward redemption from our country's dark racial heritage.
Stop hallucinating and read our 2008 Voter's Guide!

...or he's just another Chicago Machine politician...... There are going to be some VERY disappointed people, whether they will admit it one day or not. I feel for the guy, expectations are off the charts and unattainable.
Dale, you strike me as someone who voted for Bush all three times.
You really went out on a limb with that bit of insight. I guess you could say I voted for Bush four times, but once was for VP. Given the opposition candidates and that I am a Conservative (not Republican, Conservative), I wouldn't change any of those four votes. BTW, I have voted several time for Democrats and Independents in other races.
Anyone expecting utopia in the event of an Obama presidency is smoking something very, very good. I support the man considering the alternative does not match my beliefs (and I'm tired of the religious fundie whackjobs having so much sway in the White House), but I have no expectation that everything is going to suddenly get better. The man is inheriting an s**tstorm, and the nature of politics often brings compromise and disappointment. Politicians are politicians. If he wins, supporters, be glad, but don't expect a magical happyland for the next four years. We're going to be in a recession, and if he wins, the 2010 midterm elections might not be very pretty for the Congress.
