Role Models' hilarious Jane Lynch for Best Supporting Actress

Posted by Curt Holman on Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 10:26 PM

Silly comedies seldom get much respect during cinematic awards season, particularly the smaller quirky roles that everyone remembers and quotes after the fact. For years Jane Lynch has been the kind of hilarious character actress whom everyone loves without being able to recall her name. She played the memorably-named "Cindy Lightballoon" on "Arrested Development" and is a regular in Christopher Guest's comedies, playing a lesbian dog trainer in Best in Show and a prostitute-turned-folksinger ("I did the thing that the other girls wouldn't do") in A Mighty Wind. She offers a particularly inspired turn in Role Models as the organizer of a "Big Brothers"-type program who mistrusts two ne'er-do-wells played by Seann William Scott and her 40 Year-Old Virgin co-star, Paul Rudd. This interview segment from BlackTree.TV begins with a clip from one her many amusing scenes from the film, where she's like Jack Nicholson in the body of a lanky fortysomething blonde woman. Some of the language is NSFW.
