Photo phenomena: Seen around the web

Photo of the Day

— The Associated Press, Agence France-Presse and Reuters have refused to distribute photos of President Obama's second swearing-in taken by official White House press photog Pete Souza. The agencies are protesting the fact that no newspaper photographers were allowed in to the ceremony.

— Atlanta's own David Walter Banks shows off his beautiful images of D.C. leading up to and during the Inauguration. It's a slightly different take on all the hub-bub.

— The search for the photographer behind the photo that inspired the iconic Obama campaign posters seems to be resolved. What's not resolved is why the poster creator couldn't (wouldn't?) name the photographer himself...

— Things have been quiet on the JPG magazine front since they announced there was hope for the photography publication to stay open last week, but the site is still running strong... Fingers crossed.

— There's still time to apply to the PDN Photo Annual among other PDN-sponsored contests, if you're the contest-whore competitive type. Speaking of contests, the winning images of the National Geographic International Photography Contest is definitely worth a peek. Photo enthusiasts and professionals, prepare to be awed/jealous.
