"Sorry, right wingers ... helping people is the wave of the future"? "Right wingers" donate more moeny, both as a percentage of income and in actual dollars, than those on the left. How is adding trillions of dollars to the debt helping anyone? We believe in helping people by removing oneroues tax burdens and allowing them to help themselves. The perfect example is wlefare reform forced through by the Gingrich led Congress. Sorry for the mini-rant, but Icouldn;t let that snide and erroenous little tid bit slide.

“Sorry, right wingers … helping people is the wave of the future” <--- says the person whose job it is to post pithy news-bites on the Creative Loafing blog. She probably doesn't even make enough to pay federal income taxes, yet she has no problem forcing higher-income people to pay more taxes to "help" people. That's reprehensible - let people keep the money they earn. Besides, the best welfare program is a job.

I would love to be there when Adam loses his job and talk to him about "welfare." As for DaleC, you got data backing up your claim of "right-wingers" donating more than the left? And throwing out Gingrich's name just opens you up for a world of punishment.

adam, interesting NYT article from kristof. i'm not sure that it takes anything away from the NYT article that tara posted. a move toward eruo-style capitalism IS on the way. change was needed after the excesses and faults of the most recent generation and its coming. and not just in the US. worldwide.

Adam, Thanks for the interesting article. I didn't see it make mention of any potential disparities in income between the groups, though. It seems pretty likely a conservative Buckhead lawyer would have more money he could and wanted to give than say a liberal Little Five Points artist. Especially if a majority of the conservative's giving was going to his church, as the article indicates is frequently the case. And I assure you I happily pay quite a bit of taxes. Even if it is out of my meager I-just-get-paid-to-post-pithy-newsbites journalist salary. Thanks for reading guys!
