Hot dog! My dad wasn’t planning on attending SXSW, but he just might have to now!

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS TO PARTICIPATE IN 2009 SXSW MUSIC CONFERENCE  FESTIVAL MARCH 19

Through decades of mainstream success, the Oak Ridge Boys continue to reinvent themselves, meeting the challenges of the changing nature of the music industry. As their era of radio dominance wound down, they forged unique marketing partnerships and sought out innovative concert bookings. ...

The Oak Ridge Boys will sit down for a SXSW Interview on Thursday March 19 at 3:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center. The group will expound upon their experience, offer advice to new artists, answer audience questions, and possibly offer an a cappella song or two. For the first 200 registrants, there will be a giveaway of free Oak Ridge Boys Blu-Blocker Magnum sunglasses.

Wait a minute! That whippersnapper on the far left don't look like an original Oak Rige Boy? What's going on here?

Actually, that pic of the current lineup is the same bunch of guys that have been together for a long time. It's amazing what a makeover can accomplish these days. Look at a bigger picture, they are all still really ugly. But the questions remain, who cares about these guys anymore, and what are the clowns at SXSW smoking? It's got to be a postmodern ironic joke. That isn't funny.

I'm curious...how do Oak Ridge Boys Blu-Blocker Magnum sunglasses differ from regular Blu-Blocker Magnum sunglasses?

They help deflect the glare from long billowy white facial hair.

The Oak Ridge Boys are one of the longest running, and most awarded vocal groups in history. I'm positive they're going to have MUCH to offer at the conference! Rock on Boys!

Eric - who cares about substance, the ORB's just aren't cool enough for SXSW. More proof that talent and longevity are less meaningful than ever in music.

You're right, Dale. And what a sad commentary on the state of the music industry today.

I have spent the last 28 years performing and promoting live music. I have spent my share of time inthe studio. I have found talent in all kinds of music and never understood why people can't get past "cool" to see talent. I don't own their records (prefer the Statlers in that genre) or listen to them with any frequency, but the longevity and quality of their career speaks for itself.

Y'all... It's the Oak Ridge Boys! I've got plenty of fond family Christmas memories involving Oak Ridge Boys tunes, but, — it's the Oak Ridge Boys, playing SXSW. Get a picture of it on your head. That's comedy!
